Audio Forensics – Marco Perino interviews Peter French              

Professor Peter French (PhD (Bristol), Dr h.c. (Zurich), FIOA) is the UK’s most experienced expert in the field of forensic speech and acoustics and is chairman of J P French Associates. He has worked in the field for over 30 years and, in addition to leading research projects, he has been involved in developing quality regulation and standards for the profession. He was Chair (15 years) then President (15 years) of the International Association for Forensic Phonetics and Acoustics (IAFPA), and editor of the International Journal of Speech, Language and the Law. Prof. French has provided evidence in thousands of cases across the whole range of forensic speech and audio. His evidence has been for UK Crown Courts and the Court of Criminal Appeal. His work for overseas covers countries across the world, including Australia, Belarus, Canada, Ireland, France, Germany, Ghana, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Mauritius, The Netherlands, Singapore, Ukraine, United States of America and Zambia. He has worked on evidence for the UK Parliament, International Commission of Enquiry, International War Crimes Tribunal, the Bloody Sunday Inquiry and the China Tribunal.
